Leopold Bros Partners With Colorado National Monument Association
Ladies and gentlemen, may we have your attention please!
Leopold Bros is thrilled to announce a new collaboration Bourbon project with the Colorado National Monument Association, benefiting its work in supporting one of Colorado’s most treasured national parks.
Named after one of our favorite hikes—Monument Canyon Trail, a 600 foot decline from the plateau into the canyon itself where you can see some of the most famous rock formations, such as Independence Monument, Kissing Couple, and the Coke Ovens—this blend of straight Bourbon whiskeys features 6 year old wheated Bourbon from MGP distillery in Indiana, married with the Leopold Bros high-barley recipe.
To create the blend, Todd hand-selected barrels between 4 to 6 years of age, added them to our giant French oak foeder, and carefully married them into the 6 year old MGP wheated Bourbon base. It then rested for several weeks before a slow reduction down to 45% ABV at bottling.
“At Leopold Bros, we fuse heritage craftsmanship with innovative design, seeking to restore the artisanship of previous generations, while adding a conservationist mindset to that legacy,” Todd stated for today’s coming press release; “Our father Bob Leopold worked at the Bureau of Land Management for his entire career, while Scott did his MS in environmental engineering at Stanford, becoming a pioneer in sustainable factory design. Everything we do is in concert with nature.”
To show both our support and appreciation for Colorado’s national park system, Leopold Bros will be donating 10% of sales from this latest release in the Foeder Series to the Colorado National Monument Association.
What does it taste like, you ask? Let’s just say we designed this Bourbon for outdoor appreciation, specifically after a long nature hike through some of Colorado’s stunning landscapes. The fruity and floral nature of our house style is apparent, yet it’s bolstered by a creaminess and sweetness from the 6 year old wheated MGP that softens those spices and mellows out the profile.
This whiskey marks the first time in Leopold Bros history that we’ve blended another distillery’s Bourbon with our own, in-house.
We’ll be hosting a VIP night on Friday, June 27th at the distillery (tickets will be available soon), as well as the general release on the morning of Saturday, June 28th.
The MSRP at the distillery will be $39.99.
